Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic

A union republic of the Soviet Union in Central Asia from 1929 to 1991, encompassing most of present-day Tajikistan.

Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic: An autonomous republic within the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic from 1924 to 1929, before becoming a union republic. Its elevation in 1929 created the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic.
