Tallit

A Jewish rectangular garment with fringes, worn during prayer as a reminder of religious commandments. Its knotted corner fringes are called tzitzit.

Tzitzit: Fringes attached to the corners of a Jewish garment in fulfillment of a biblical commandment. These fringes are the defining ritual feature of a tallit.
Tallit gadol: A large Jewish prayer shawl worn over the shoulders, especially during synagogue services. This is the full-sized form most commonly meant by tallit.
Biblical Hebrew: The ancient form of Hebrew used in most of the Hebrew Bible. The biblical passages behind the garment’s fringes were composed in this language.
