Taoyuan

Taoyuan is a special municipality in northwestern Taiwan, bordering New Taipei, Hsinchu County, and Yilan County. It contains Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and forms part of the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan region.

Taoyuan District: A district in Taoyuan City that contains the municipality’s administrative seat. The municipal seat anchors local government within Taoyuan’s largest urban area.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport: Taiwan’s largest international airport, located in Taoyuan City. The airport makes Taoyuan Taiwan’s principal international air gateway.
Taoyuan County: A county-level administrative division that existed in northwestern Taiwan until 2014. Its former boundaries became the basis of today’s special municipality.
Daxi District: A district in Taoyuan known for historic streets and traditional woodcraft. Daxi preserves a historic commercial landscape distinct from the airport corridor.
Zhongli District: A district in Taoyuan City and a major urban center in northern Taiwan. Zhongli is a second major center, illustrating Taoyuan’s polycentric urban structure.
Taoyuan Airport MRT: A rapid-transit line connecting Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with Taipei and Taoyuan. It links the airport to central Taoyuan and the wider capital region.
Special municipality (Taiwan): A top-level administrative division in Taiwan with status comparable to a province. Taoyuan’s 2014 promotion placed it among Taiwan’s highest-tier local governments.
Fuxing District, Taoyuan: A mountainous district in southeastern Taoyuan with a substantial Atayal population. Fuxing shows the municipality’s rural and Indigenous dimensions.
Taiwan: An island in East Asia governed by the Republic of China. Taoyuan is one of Taiwan’s six special municipalities.
Taiwan High Speed Rail: A high-speed rail system running along Taiwan’s western corridor. Its Taoyuan station connects the municipality to major cities across western Taiwan.
