Tar

The tar is a long-necked, double-bowl lute used in Persian classical music. Its fretted neck and paired membranes give it a distinctive timbre.

Setar: The setar is a Persian long-necked lute with a small body and typically four strings. Unlike the tar’s double bowl and paired membranes, the setar has a smaller, wooden soundbox.
