Tate Modern

Tate Modern is a museum of modern and contemporary art in London, housed in the former Bankside Power Station. It is part of the Tate network.

Tate: Tate is a network of art museums and galleries in the United Kingdom, including Tate Modern. Tate Modern is one of the network’s four principal galleries.
Herzog & de Meuron: Herzog & de Meuron is a Swiss architecture practice founded by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. The practice designed Tate Modern’s conversion of the power station.
The Unilever Series: The Unilever Series was a long-running program of commissioned installations for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall. It made the hall a prominent site for large-scale commissions.
London Millennium Bridge: The London Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian bridge across the Thames linking Bankside with the City of London. Its opening alongside Tate Modern strengthened pedestrian connections between the museum and central London.

Jacques Herzog: Jacques Herzog is a Swiss architect and co-founder of Herzog & de Meuron. He helped lead the architectural practice responsible for the museum’s conversion.
Tate Modern extension: The Tate Modern extension, known as the Blavatnik Building, expanded the museum with galleries and public spaces. The extension added exhibition capacity and new spaces to the museum.
South Bank: The South Bank is a cultural and urban district along the southern side of the Thames in central London. Tate Modern forms a major part of the South Bank’s cultural destinations.
Contemporary art: Contemporary art is art made in the present era, especially since the late twentieth century. The museum also collects and exhibits art made in the present era.
Pierre de Meuron: Pierre de Meuron is a Swiss architect and co-founder of Herzog & de Meuron. He helped lead the architectural practice responsible for the museum’s conversion.
