Tenor saxophone

The tenor saxophone is a single-reed woodwind instrument pitched in B-flat, sounding a major ninth below written pitch. Its size and register place it between the alto and baritone saxophones.

Trumpet: A high-register brass instrument that produces sound through lip vibration in a cup-shaped mouthpiece. It contrasts the tenor's reed-based sound with a bright brass timbre.
Single-reed instrument: A wind instrument that produces sound as air makes one reed vibrate against a mouthpiece. The tenor's reed and mouthpiece generate its tone.
Soprano saxophone: A high-register saxophone, commonly pitched in B-flat, with a straight or curved body. Its high register contrasts with the tenor's lower, broader sound.
