Terracotta

Terracotta is unglazed ceramic made by firing clay, typically producing an earthy red or orange body. It is used for sculpture, vessels, tiles, and architectural elements.

Clay: Clay is fine-grained natural material composed mainly of hydrous aluminum silicates that become plastic when wet. Its mineral content and plasticity provide the raw material for terracotta.
Terracotta Army: The Terracotta Army is a collection of life-size ceramic figures buried near the tomb of Qin Shi Huang in China. Its individually modeled figures show terracotta’s scale and role in funerary art.
Neolithic pottery: Neolithic pottery is ceramic ware made by farming communities during the Neolithic period. Early pottery established clay firing as a durable craft long before monumental terracotta.
Stoneware: Stoneware is a dense ceramic fired at high temperatures until its body becomes substantially vitrified. Unlike porous terracotta, stoneware is generally denser and less absorbent.

Porcelain: Porcelain is a hard, often translucent ceramic made from refined materials and fired at high temperatures. Its refined body and high firing distinguish it from ordinary terracotta.
Earthenware: Earthenware is a porous ceramic fired at relatively low temperatures, usually without vitrifying its body. Terracotta is commonly an unglazed form of earthenware.
Terracotta pot: A terracotta pot is an unglazed clay vessel commonly used to grow plants. Its porous walls allow moisture and air to pass through.
