Terry Fox

Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete and cancer research activist who lost a leg to bone cancer and began the Marathon of Hope in 1980 to raise money for cancer research.

Marathon of Hope: Terry Fox’s 1980 cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Fox began this run after cancer treatment and made it the defining act of his campaign.
Osteosarcoma: A cancer that forms in bone, often affecting the long bones of the arms or legs. Osteosarcoma led to Fox’s right leg amputation and shaped his campaign.
