An album is a collection of recorded music issued as a unified work or release. Its tracks are presented together through a shared format, sequence, or artistic concept.

Track listing: An ordered list of the recordings included in a music release. It specifies which recordings make up the album and the order in which they appear.
Multitrack recording: A recording method that captures or combines separate audio sources on independent tracks. It allows performances and instruments to be assembled into the album’s recordings.

Audio mixing: The process of balancing and combining recorded sounds into a finished mix. Mixing gives the album’s tracks their final balance of voices, instruments, and effects.
78 rpm record: A shellac disc record typically played at 78 revolutions per minute. Its short playing time encouraged multi-disc collections sold as albums.
Live album: An album made from performances recorded before an audience. It presents concert performances as a unified release rather than a studio recording.
Album chart: A ranking of music releases based on measures such as sales, streams, or equivalent consumption. Album charts measure commercial performance at the level of the full release.
