The Shirelles

The Shirelles were an American girl group whose early-1960s hits, including “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” helped establish the girl-group sound and brought Black women’s voices to the center of pop.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow: A 1960 Shirelles single written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, widely recognized as the first song by a Black girl group to top the Billboard Hot 100. The breakthrough hit that made the group’s intimate, questioning vocal style a national pop sound.
