The Tale of Kiều

A Vietnamese narrative poem by Nguyễn Du follows Thúy Kiều through love, family sacrifice, and years of suffering. Its verse and language made it a defining work of Vietnamese literature.

Nguyễn Du: A Vietnamese poet and diplomat who lived from 1765 to 1820 and wrote The Tale of Kiều. His poetic choices transform the source story into a Vietnamese work of distinctive moral and emotional force.
