Theistic evolution

Theistic evolution holds that evolutionary processes are compatible with divine creation or providence, with God creating or sustaining life through natural history rather than replacing it.

Evolution: Evolution is change in heritable traits across generations, producing biological diversity and adaptation. Theistic evolution accepts evolutionary change while interpreting its relation to divine action.
Divine providence: Divine providence is God's sustaining and governing activity in the world. It provides a theological account of how God may work through evolutionary history.
Charles Darwin: Charles Darwin was an English naturalist who developed the theory of evolution by natural selection. His work made evolutionary explanations a central challenge for Christian accounts of creation.
Young Earth creationism: Young Earth creationism holds that Earth and life were created only thousands of years ago, commonly interpreting Genesis as a historical chronology. Its timescale and rejection of common ancestry conflict with standard evolutionary accounts.
