Theo Angelopoulos

Theo Angelopoulos (1935–2012) was a Greek film director and screenwriter whose long, contemplative films explore history, exile, borders, and memory through extended shots and deliberate staging.

Long take: A continuous shot maintained for an extended duration without a cut. Angelopoulos used sustained takes to make movement, duration, and offscreen space carry dramatic weight.
