Theodore Dwight Weld

Theodore Dwight Weld was an American abolitionist, educator, and reformer who helped organize the antislavery movement and coauthored the 1839 pamphlet American Slavery As It Is. He promoted immediate emancipation through organizing, public speaking, and evidence-based argument.

Angelina Grimké: Angelina Grimké was an abolitionist lecturer and writer who campaigned against slavery and for women’s rights. She married Weld and collaborated with him on antislavery writing and organizing.
American Slavery As It Is: An 1839 antislavery pamphlet that assembled testimony and documentary evidence about slavery in the United States. Weld coauthored this influential work with Angelina and Sarah Grimké.
