Theodore von Kármán

Theodore von Kármán was a Hungarian-American mathematician and aerospace engineer whose work shaped fluid mechanics, aeronautics, and modern aerospace research.

Kármán vortex street: A repeating pattern of vortices shed alternately by a bluff body in fluid flow. Von Kármán explained the stability and spacing of this wake pattern.
