Thin client

A computer that relies on a remote server for much of its processing and data storage. It typically handles local input and display while applications run remotely.

Remote desktop software: Software that lets a user interact with a computer through a network connection. It presents remote applications or desktops on a thin client's local display.
Client–server model: A computing architecture in which client devices request services from centralized server programs. Thin clients are endpoints in this broader division of computing roles.
Virtual desktop: A desktop environment hosted in software and accessed through a local device or network connection. It is the workspace most commonly delivered to thin-client endpoints.
Fat client: A computer that performs most application processing and data handling locally. It places the work and storage on the endpoint rather than relying heavily on servers.

Server: A computer or program that provides resources or services to other computers over a network. Its compute capacity and storage substitute for resources absent from the thin client.
Call center: A workplace where agents handle customer interactions through telephone and digital channels. Shared, standardized workstations make centralized desktops practical for rotating agents.
Personal computer: A general-purpose computer designed primarily for use by one person. A conventional PC usually runs applications locally and works with less constant server dependence.
Endpoint management: The processes and tools used to configure, secure, monitor, and maintain user devices. A small local software footprint can make endpoint updates and support easier.
