Thomas Cromwell

Thomas Cromwell (c. 1485–1540) was an English statesman who served Henry VIII as chief minister. He helped dissolve England’s monasteries, reshape royal government, and secure the king’s break with Rome.

Dissolution of the Monasteries: The closure of England’s monasteries and transfer of their property to the Crown under Henry VIII. Cromwell organized the investigations and administrative measures that enabled this transfer.
