Thomas Francis Wade

Thomas Francis Wade (1818–1895) was a British diplomat and sinologist who developed the Wade system for romanizing Chinese, later revised as Wade–Giles.

Herbert Giles: Herbert Allen Giles was a British diplomat and sinologist who revised Wade’s Chinese romanization system. His revision helped make Wade’s system known as Wade–Giles.
