Thomas Reid

Thomas Reid (1710–1796) was a Scottish Enlightenment philosopher who argued that ordinary perception and judgment rest on principles of common sense, challenging David Hume’s skepticism.

Common-sense philosophy: A philosophical approach that treats basic, widely shared judgments as rational starting points for inquiry. Reid made common sense the foundation for resisting skeptical arguments.
