Thomas the Apostle

Thomas was one of Jesus’s twelve apostles. The Gospel of John depicts him questioning reports of Jesus’s resurrection, while later Christian tradition associates him with missionary work in India.

Doubting Thomas: A name for Thomas’s demand for evidence of Jesus’s resurrection, and for the Gospel episode describing it. John’s account of Thomas touching Jesus’s wounds gave rise to his lasting reputation for doubt.
