Thomas the Slav

Thomas the Slav was a Byzantine military commander who led a major revolt against Emperor Michael II from 821 to 823, drawing support from forces across the empire.

Siege of Constantinople (821–823): A prolonged land and sea siege of Constantinople during Thomas the Slav’s revolt against Michael II. Thomas’s forces failed to capture the capital despite surrounding it for more than a year.
