Thousand Days' War

A Colombian civil war fought from 1899 to 1902 between Liberal and Conservative forces. It ended in Conservative victory and weakened Colombia amid regional upheaval.

Battle of Palonegro: A major battle of the Thousand Days' War, fought near Bucaramanga in 1900. Its prolonged fighting exhausted Liberal forces and marked a turning point in the war.
Regeneration (Colombia): A Colombian political movement that centralized government and reshaped the country under Conservative leadership in the late nineteenth century. Its political settlement narrowed Liberal influence and fueled opposition.
