Conquest of Khwarezm: Timur’s campaigns that brought Khwarezm under his control and culminated in the destruction of Urgench in 1388. This conquest secured a strategic region north of the Amu Darya.

Siege warfare: Military operations designed to capture fortified places through encirclement, assault, or negotiated surrender. Sieges allowed Timurid forces to take cities that cavalry could not seize in open battle.
