Tinariwen
Tinariwen is a Tuareg musical group formed in the Sahara in the late 1970s. Its electric-guitar music blends Tuareg traditions with blues and rock.
Assouf: A Tuareg musical style whose name is associated with longing and nostalgia, often built around electric guitar. Tinariwen’s songs helped make this guitar-centered expression of Tuareg longing widely known.
Ibrahim Ag Alhabib: A Tuareg guitarist, singer, and founding member of Tinariwen. His early songwriting and guitar playing helped establish the group’s musical direction.
Abdallah Ag Alhousseyni: A Tuareg guitarist and singer who is a longtime member of Tinariwen. His vocals and guitar work are central to the group’s ensemble sound.
