Traditional pop

Traditional pop is a popular music style built around polished vocal performances of songs and standards, commonly accompanied by orchestras or big bands. It flourished from the 1930s through the early 1960s, before rock became dominant.

American popular song: A body of widely performed songs shaped by commercial songwriting and mass entertainment in the United States. Traditional pop drew much of its repertoire from this songwriting tradition.
