Trawl fishing

Trawl fishing catches fish and other marine animals by towing a large net through the water or along the seafloor.

Bottom trawling: A fishing method that drags a net along the seafloor to catch demersal animals. It is the seabed-contact form of trawling, with distinctive habitat effects.
Seabed trawling impacts: Physical and ecological changes caused by fishing gear that contacts the seafloor. Bottom trawls can scrape, flatten, or resuspend sediment from seabed habitats.
