Treaty of Fez

The 1912 agreement by which Sultan Abdelhafid accepted a French protectorate over most of Morocco, while Spain retained a zone in northern Morocco.

Algeciras Conference: A 1906 international conference that affirmed Morocco’s sovereignty while granting France and Spain policing roles. Its compromise internationalized the Moroccan question but failed to prevent French expansion.
