Trisong Detsen

Trisong Detsen was an eighth-century Tibetan emperor who expanded the Tibetan Empire and supported Buddhism’s establishment in Tibet, including the founding of Samye Monastery.

Samye Monastery: A Buddhist monastery in central Tibet, traditionally regarded as Tibet’s first. Its establishment under Trisong Detsen gave his Buddhist sponsorship a lasting institutional center.
