Trophy hunting

Trophy hunting is the pursuit and killing of wild animals primarily to obtain body parts such as horns, antlers, or skins as keepsakes or displays. It often targets large or otherwise distinctive individuals.

Canned hunting: A commercial hunt in which an animal is confined or otherwise unable to escape the hunter effectively. It is often contrasted with free-ranging trophy hunting, though boundaries between the practices can be disputed.
Wildlife conservation: The protection and management of wild species and the ecosystems they inhabit. Trophy hunting is defended or opposed largely through claims about its conservation effects.
Subsistence hunting: Hunting primarily to obtain food or other materials needed for personal or community use. Its central purpose is material use, unlike trophy hunting's emphasis on keepsakes or display.

Sustainable hunting: Hunting conducted at a rate and in a manner intended to maintain viable wildlife populations. Whether trophy harvest is sustainable depends on species, population data, and enforcement.
