Tuatara

The tuatara is a nocturnal reptile native to New Zealand and the sole living representative of Rhynchocephalia, an ancient lineage distinct from lizards and snakes.

Rhynchocephalia: An order of reptiles that includes tuatara and many extinct relatives. Tuatara is the only living representative of this lineage.
Ectothermy: A mode of thermoregulation in which body temperature depends largely on external heat sources. Tuatara tolerate unusually cool temperatures for reptiles and rely on environmental conditions.
