Tulunids

The Tulunids were a Muslim dynasty that ruled Egypt and parts of Syria from 868 to 905. Founded by Ahmad ibn Tulun, they established substantial autonomy from the Abbasid caliphate.

Ahmad ibn Tulun: The Turkish-born Abbasid governor who founded the Tulunid dynasty and ruled Egypt from 868 to 884. His governorship became the foundation of Tulunid rule.
Al-Qata'i: A new city founded by Ahmad ibn Tulun near Fustat as the Tulunid capital. Its mosques, palace, and districts expressed the dynasty’s control of Egypt.
