Turn-based strategy

Turn-based strategy is a game format in which players make moves or issue orders in alternating turns rather than acting simultaneously in real time. It gives players time to plan while making the sequence of actions part of play.

Turn-based game: A game in which players act in discrete turns, usually taking actions in sequence. Turn-based strategy is a strategic subset of this broader game format.
Chess: A two-player board game in which players alternate moves with pieces on an 8-by-8 board. Chess is a perfect-information strategy game whose alternating moves make tempo decisive.
