Turpan Depression

The Turpan Depression is a low-lying sedimentary basin in eastern Xinjiang, China. It contains the Flaming Mountains and Ayding Lake and includes some of the lowest land on Earth.

Ayding Lake: A saline lake in the Turpan Depression, near the lowest exposed land in China. This salt-encrusted lake occupies the depression’s lowest point.
