Twining plant

A climbing plant whose stem grows in a spiral around a support. Twining stems use contact with nearby structures to gain height without supporting themselves upright.

Circumnutation: A repeated circular or elliptical movement made by a growing plant organ. The growing shoot's sweeping movement lets it encounter supports before winding around them.
Plant growth: An increase in a plant's size through cell division and cell expansion. Twining depends on differential growth as the shoot elongates and bends.
