Two truths doctrine

The distinction between conventional truth, which governs ordinary experience and communication, and ultimate truth, which concerns the nature of reality. Buddhist traditions interpret the relationship between these truths in different ways.

Conventional truth: Truth understood through ordinary practices, language, and shared standards of recognition. It names the level at which everyday objects and statements function.
Madhyamaka: A Mahāyāna Buddhist philosophical school centered on emptiness and the analysis of views. Its account makes conventional and ultimate truth inseparable without equating them.
Two truths in Madhyamaka: The Madhyamaka account of conventional and ultimate truth as two aspects of dependent phenomena. It shows how emptiness can be ultimate without making ordinary appearances nonexistent.
