Ubangi-Shari

Ubangi-Shari was a French colonial territory in central Africa from 1903 until independence in 1960, when it became the Central African Republic.

French Equatorial Africa: A French colonial federation in central Africa that existed from 1910 to 1958. Ubangi-Shari was one of the federation’s constituent territories.
Concession system in the Congo: A colonial system that granted private companies control over land and resources in parts of central Africa. Concession companies extracted rubber and ivory from Ubangi-Shari under coercive conditions.
