Ucayali River

The Ucayali is a major river of eastern Peru and one of the Amazon’s principal headstreams, formed by the confluence of the Tambo and Urubamba rivers.

Tambo River: A river in Peru that joins the Urubamba to form the Ucayali. Its confluence with the Urubamba marks the Ucayali’s formation.
Francisco de Orellana: A Spanish explorer who led the first documented European descent of the Amazon in 1541–1542. His expedition helped bring the river system into European geographic accounts.
River transport in Peru: The movement of people and goods by navigable rivers within Peru. Boats connect settlements along the Ucayali where roads are limited.
