Ueda Akinari

Ueda Akinari (1734–1809) was an Edo-period Japanese author and scholar, best known for Ugetsu Monogatari, a collection of supernatural tales shaped by classical Chinese and Japanese literature.

Ugetsu Monogatari: A collection of nine supernatural tales by Ueda Akinari, published in 1776. This collection became Akinari’s best-known work and exemplifies his literary method.
