Ukrainian People's Republic

The Ukrainian People's Republic was a Ukrainian state proclaimed in 1917 amid the Russian Revolution. Its governments sought independence while fighting Bolshevik, White, Polish, and other forces.

Central Rada: The Ukrainian representative body that led the national movement and governed the republic in its early years. It proclaimed the republic and issued the declarations that defined its changing status.
