Unconventional warfare

Unconventional warfare is military activity that supports an insurgency or resistance movement to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power.

Insurgency: An organized rebellion that uses political mobilization and armed action against an established authority. It is the broader conflict in which unconventional warfare supports resistance forces.
Office of Strategic Services: The United States intelligence and special operations agency active during World War II. Its support for resistance groups became an early model for U.S. unconventional warfare.
World War II resistance movements: Organized efforts to resist Axis occupation and rule during World War II. Their operations supplied prominent models for supporting resistance forces.
