United Provinces of the Río de la Plata

The United Provinces of the Río de la Plata was a revolutionary polity formed from the former Spanish Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata during the South American independence struggles.

May Revolution: The 1810 Buenos Aires uprising that displaced the Spanish viceroy and established a local governing junta. Its junta began the revolutionary government that claimed authority over the former viceroyalty.
