United States Capitol

The United States Capitol is the seat of the United States Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Its chambers house the Senate and House of Representatives.

United States Congress: The federal legislature of the United States, composed of the Senate and House of Representatives. The Capitol is the building where Congress meets and conducts its legislative work.
Pierre Charles L'Enfant: The French-born planner who designed the broad framework for Washington, D.C. His city plan placed the national legislature on a prominent hill.
