Universal Classic Monsters are horror characters developed or popularized by Universal Pictures, including Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, the Mummy, and the Wolf Man. Their films helped establish enduring screen versions of literary and folkloric figures.

Dracula (1931 film): Tod Browning’s 1931 Universal film stars Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula. Lugosi’s performance established the character’s iconic screen image for the studio.
Universal Pictures: Universal Pictures is an American film studio founded in 1912. The studio produced and distributed the films that formed the collection.
Bela Lugosi: Bela Lugosi was a Hungarian-American actor best known for playing Dracula in 1931. His controlled, theatrical performance became the template for Universal’s screen vampire.
Bride of Frankenstein: James Whale’s 1935 film continues the story of Frankenstein’s Creature and introduces his intended mate. It showed how Universal could extend a monster story while deepening its themes and style.

Frankenstein: Frankenstein is Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel about Victor Frankenstein and the being he creates. The 1931 film transformed Shelley’s novel into one of Universal’s defining monster stories.
