University of Dhaka

A public research university in Dhaka, Bangladesh, founded in 1921. It became a major center of Bengali political and cultural life as well as higher education.

University of Calcutta: A public research university founded in Kolkata in 1857, among the earliest modern universities in South Asia. Dhaka University was created partly to address demands for greater access to higher education in eastern Bengal.
