Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic

The Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic was a constituent republic of the Soviet Union from 1924 until Uzbekistan declared independence in 1991.

National delimitation in the Soviet Union: The Soviet policy of organizing territory and government around officially recognized national groups. The 1924 delimitation created the republic from territories previously governed within larger Central Asian units.
