Uzun Hasan

Uzun Hasan was the Aq Qoyunlu ruler who built a major 15th-century power across Iran and eastern Anatolia, challenging the Ottoman Empire and the Timurids.

Aq Qoyunlu: A Turkmen tribal confederation and ruling dynasty that governed parts of Iran and Anatolia in the 14th and 15th centuries. Uzun Hasan transformed this confederation into a major regional state.
Battle of Chapakchur: A 1467 battle in which Uzun Hasan defeated and killed Kara Koyunlu ruler Jahan Shah. This victory broke the chief rival to Uzun Hasan’s authority.
