Vasco Núñez de Balboa

Vasco Núñez de Balboa was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and became the first European known to see the Pacific Ocean from the Americas.

Jerez de los Caballeros: A town in Extremadura, Spain, traditionally identified as Vasco Núñez de Balboa’s birthplace. Balboa was born here around 1475 before joining Spanish expeditions to the Americas.
