Vasily Chuikov

Vasily Chuikov was a Soviet military commander who led the defense of Stalingrad and later commanded Soviet forces in the Battle of Berlin.

Battle of Stalingrad: A major 1942–1943 battle in which Soviet forces defeated the German Sixth Army in and around Stalingrad. Chuikov commanded the Soviet 62nd Army during the city’s defense.
Urban warfare: Combat conducted in towns and cities, where buildings, streets, and civilians shape military operations. Chuikov adapted his defense to the close-range, building-by-building fight.
Georgy Zhukov: A Soviet marshal who directed major Red Army operations during World War II. Zhukov helped plan the Stalingrad counteroffensive and later commanded the Berlin operation.
