Venetian Lagoon

The Venetian Lagoon is a shallow lagoon in northeastern Italy containing Venice and several other islands, separated from the Adriatic Sea by barrier islands.

Tidal prism: The volume of water entering or leaving an estuary or lagoon between high and low tide. Its size helps explain how tidal exchange flushes the lagoon through its inlets.
