Vermouth

Vermouth is wine fortified with distilled spirit and flavored with herbs, spices, roots, and other botanicals. It is commonly served as an aperitif or used in cocktails.

Aromatized wine: Wine flavored with botanicals or other aromatic ingredients, sometimes fortified with spirit. Vermouth belongs to this broader family of botanical-flavored wines.
Wine fortification: The addition of distilled spirit to wine to raise its alcohol content or alter its character. Vermouth is fortified, though producers vary the spirit and timing of its addition.

Negroni: A cocktail traditionally made with gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth in equal proportions. Sweet vermouth balances the bitterness of Campari and the botanical strength of gin.
Sweet vermouth: A vermouth style with noticeable sweetness, often dark in color and botanically rich. Its richer profile is common in whiskey and bitter-aperitif cocktails.
Turin: A city in northern Italy known as a historic center of commercial vermouth production. Turin became closely associated with the development and trade of modern vermouth.
